Server screen in January 2012

Bin Weevils operates servers (known as ''bins'') to meet the demand of the players. Once logged in, players have to choose a certain server to join. A short advertisement would appear while the server list was loading and after when a server was selected. The advertisements promoted VIP parties, virtual goods, sales, Bin Tycoon, promotional campaigns, and new content.

Bin Weevils used a very well known Flash server which allows users to connect to various servers, they used a service called Smart Fox Server (SFS for short). There were over 10 active servers before 2014. During peak hours, it was more difficult to access a server, as many would appear full. A buddy count was listed below each server name showing the number of players online from your buddy list. Several servers were removed, and by 2015, only Dirt and Slime were available.

Trivia[]

  • Servers are known as bins. Once players login, they must select a sever to play on that is available. A buddy count was listed below each server name showing the number of players online from your buddy list.
  • A short advertisement would appear while the server list was loading and after when a server was selected. The advertisements promoted VIP parties, virtual goods, sales, Bin Tycoon, promotional campaigns, and new content.
  • Ooze was the name of a server that first appeared on July 26, 2011. It did not appear at peak times, and was often emptier than the other servers. It was the third most popular bin for Scribbles to do his random Weevil Weekly visits.
  • In 2013, along with the Bin Weevils website overhaul, players could be redirected to the server Grime through the nest icon when they are logged in alongside the navigation bar. This speeded up the logging in process.
  • In late 2013, a server expansion resulted in less active bins. This change allowed more weevils into the top bins.
  • In 2014, the server screen was redesigned along with the logging in screen. The server buttons were enlarged.
  • In 2015, the amount of servers in the game was reduced to only two, Slime and Dirt. This is due to the decreasing numbers of active players also witnessed on other Flash based MMOs.
